"They're from Mustafa," the word went around.
As you might expect, successive trips to Mustafa yielded exactly zero results. Then, one day when I had all but given up looking, I saw them! Nestling next to the jars of muruku and chakli were these rather expensive but oh-so-tempting little jars of bitter gourd chips. They're made with Indian karela, sliced really thin, and the only things in it are salt, chilli powder and rice flour, says the label. The company that makes them must be making a killing - at $3.50 a jar, no less! But if I have to eat chips I'd rather eat karela than potato, I guess. And they go really well with rice and.. oh, I said it before.
They're in stock, and I have stocked up. ('ve left some on the Mustafa shelves...
